KahBang Film Festival in Bangor reveals line up
The KahBang Film Festival is proud to announce the lineup for its 2010 Films in Competition. Categories of competition include “First Take”, “Gen-Next”, “Perspectives”, “Short Cuts”, and “Maine on Main”.
Notable films include the Sundance-debuted New Low, and One Too Many Mornings, both of which are the product of first time filmmakers and will be shown as a part of the “Gen-Next” category. The “Perspectives” category is proud to announce the screening of Wi Ai Ni Mommy, winner of the Sterling Award for Best U.S. Feature at the AFI-Discovery Channel Silverdocs Documentary Festival. Other notable films include Audience of One, Virtual JFK, Toxic Soup, and Cleanflix. The KahBang Film Festival will continue to announce confirmed Films in Competition in the coming weeks.
The KahBang Film Festival is the premier film event of the umbrella event The KahBang Festival: Music, Art, Film, to be held August 6th-14th, 2010 in Bangor, Maine. The nine-day event will transform Bangor into an arts and entertainment hotspot with constant musical performances, film screenings, artist panels, and art gallery exhibitions and venues throughout the city. Local area bars and restaurants will host KahBang @ Night events, as an influx of 50 bands and performers enter the city for the festival week. The KahBang Festival culminates with The KahBang Music Festival on August 13th-14th featuring headliners B.o.B, OK Go, Biz Markie, and Free Energy.

FIRST TAKE: Category includes premiere screenings of the latest films from some of the most talented and visionary filmmakers in cinema.

One Too Many Mornings: A coming of age comedy about two guys who are way too old to be coming of age.
Leading Ladies: An overbearing ballroom stage mother and her two daughters must redefine their roles in life and on the dance floor as each learns to “Let Love Lead.”
PERSPECTIVES: Category includes feature-length documentaries that explore current topics and cultural trends from across the globe.
Cleanflix: Dozens of Utah DVD retailers attracted unwanted attention from Hollywood heavyweights when – in the name of conservative family values – they begin sanitizing films of sex, nudity, profanity, and violence.
Toxic Soup: It’s the politics of pollution as giant corporations manipulate the system to delay environmental reform, endangering the lives of people all over the world for increased profits. “Toxic Soup” shares the stories of everyday folks fighting to keep their blood, water and air safe from pollution.
